Like I said earlier, the dining experience onboard is second-to-none. The diverse menus of small plates and al fresco brunches rotate regularly to keep things interesting – but you can always find some classic favourites like fish and chips and burgers. They also serve up vegan and vegetarian options at all of the eateries, so no matter what dietary requirements you have, there’s something for everyone.

Virgin work with Michelin stared chefs to create some of the best menus at sea. Here are some of my favourites:

• The Wake – this was the first table-service restaurant I tried onboard Valiant Lady. Steaks, seafood and a full raw bar. Feels like a classic NYC restaurant
• The Test Kitchen – so good we went twice! Inspired by Escoffier’s Ma Cuisine, this laboratory-like eatery is part cooking school and part restaurant. It’s educational, experiential and social. With classes and evolving tasting menus, this is for the curious, boundary-pushing tastebuds on board
• Gunbae – part socialising, part Korean BBQ. Sat around a circular BBQ, your own personal chef cooks everything in front of your eyes and there’s a fun drinking game too
• Pink Agave – inspired by the capital city’s red hot street food scene, sailors are treated to an immersive odyssey of Mexican cuisine. Personal, intimate, and educational, a master of ceremonies will guide you through a highly curated dining and drinking experience

For most of these restaurants, you’d probably pay extra to dine here if you were on another cruise line. But on Virgin, it’s all included.
